Discord

The Discord Action block allows users to send messages directly to a specified Discord channel. This is useful for creating real-time alerts or updates within Discord, providing timely notifications based on workflow events in Otomato.

  1. Action:

    • Send Message: This is the default action for the Discord block, allowing the automation to send a custom message to a designated Discord channel.

  2. Webhook:

    • Specifies the Discord webhook URL required to send messages to a Discord channel. This field is essential, as it connects Otomato to the specific Discord channel where the message will be posted.

How to Obtain a Discord Webhook URL:

  1. Open Discord and go to the server where you want to receive the messages.

  2. Navigate to the Channel where messages should be sent and click on the Settings (gear icon) next to the channel name.

  3. In the Channel Settings, select Integrations from the sidebar.

  4. Click on Create Webhook and give it a name to identify it easily.

  5. Under Webhook URL, copy the unique URL provided. This is the URL you will paste into the Webhook field in Otomato.

  6. Save the webhook in Discord to confirm it’s ready for use.

  • Once you have pasted the webhook URL into the Webhook field in Otomato, your automation will be able to send messages to the designated channel.

  1. Message:

    • This field allows users to enter the custom message that will be sent to the Discord channel. The message can be personalized with details relevant to the workflow, making it an effective tool for real-time updates and alerts.

    • The content can include variables from other blocks or workflows, providing context and information relevant to the event triggering the message.

Using the Discord Action block with a webhook allows Otomato users to seamlessly send alerts or updates to their Discord communities or teams. This feature is ideal for teams needing instant updates on workflow events or monitoring changes within the Otomato automation flow.
